The perils of going on holiday

I enjoy my camping holidays in Cornwall and Devon, even the long drive down and back. It's quite satisfying to speed along getting steadily closer, along mostly unfamiliar roads, to a restful destination.

There is, however, one major drawback for a self-confessed geek such as myself. That drawback is the lack of a reliable Internet connection. I can check emails and IM people on the now unimpressive GPRS signal at the tent, but when it comes to watching the latest episode of Doctor Who I have to rely on what scattered 3G and WiFi signals I can find.

I thought I was in luck today, but unfortunately the campsite's router decided to pack up 20 minutes from the end of tonight's finale, with nobody around to descend into the router's mystical underground vault - paved with the blood of 1000 overinquisitive holidaymakers - to reset it. So finale-less I remain until the connection is restored and I can lug my laptop down the hill for some iPlayer watching. *sigh*
